Aerodynamic Aviation (formerly Amelia Reid Aviation) has provided flight training since 1960, with offices at Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose and Monterey Airport in California. The school offers Sport through ATP certificates plus tailwheel, aerobatic, and mountain flying training, and rents a fleet of Citabrias, Cessnas, Maules, and a Piper Twin Comanche. It is set up to train TSA-approved international students and lists several flight-training financing options.

Programs & Services

Training

Sport Pilot

Light sport aircraft training program for flying LSA aircraft under sport pilot privileges with a streamlined path to the skies.

Private Pilot

Private pilot certificate program from zero experience through checkride, including ground school and flight training.

Instrument Rating

IFR training covering precision and non-precision approaches, holds, cross-country flight planning, and partial-panel work.

Commercial Pilot

Commercial certificate training including complex and high-performance aircraft time, maneuvers, and cross-country requirements.

CFI

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) training covering fundamentals of instruction, lesson planning, and flight teaching techniques for single-engine aircraft.

Multi-Engine Rating

Multi-engine add-on rating with training in engine-out procedures, Vmc demonstrations, and systems management.

ATP

Airline Transport Pilot certificate preparation covering airline-level operations, crew resource management, and ATP knowledge test prep.

Aerobatic Training

Aerobatic flight training covering loops, rolls, spins, hammerheads, and inverted flight in purpose-built aerobatic aircraft.

Ground School

FAA knowledge test preparation covering aerodynamics, weather, navigation, regulations, and aircraft systems.

Flight Review

Biennial flight review including a ground session on regulations and aeronautical knowledge plus a flight portion with maneuvers.

IPC

Instrument proficiency check to regain IFR currency, covering approaches, holds, intercepting and tracking courses.

Transition Training

Aircraft-specific checkout and transition training for pilots moving to a new make, model, or avionics suite.

Endorsements

Tailwheel

Conventional gear endorsement covering ground handling, crosswind technique, and three-point and wheel landings.

Spin Training

Spin entry recognition, developed spin characteristics, and recovery techniques with emphasis on awareness and prevention.

Rental

Aircraft Rental

Rent aircraft for solo flights after completing a checkout with one of our instructors. Wet and dry rates available.

Block Time

Pre-purchase flight hours in bulk at a discounted rate. Blocks are non-expiring and transferable between aircraft.
