Ideal Aviation is a Part 141 and Part 61 flight school based at St. Louis Downtown Airport in Sauget, Illinois, training both fixed-wing and rotary-wing pilots from private pilot through CFI. The school operates a fleet of ten aircraft, including Cessna, Piper, and Tecnam airplanes and a Guimbal Cabri helicopter, with over 15 certified flight instructors and a partnership with Southwestern Illinois College for college credit.

North American Helicopter is a helicopter services company with a 55+ year history supporting the US Government and Utility sectors with aerial inspection services. They provide precision external load services, aerial crane construction, aerial seeding, firefighting, and other specialized missions. The company operates KAMAN K-MAX helicopters with lifting capabilities up to 6,000lbs and is certified as a Part 133 External Load Operator, Part 135 Air Carrier, and Part 145 Repair Station.

Southwestern Illinois College offers FAA-approved Part 141 aviation pilot training at its Belleville, Illinois campus, leading to private, commercial, instrument, multi-engine, and CFI certificates, plus Illinois' only collegiate helicopter pilot program. Flight training is delivered through a partnership with Ideal Aviation in Sauget, Illinois, and graduates can transfer to Southern Illinois University Carbondale for a bachelor's degree at reduced cost.

The Oliver L. Parks Department of Aviation Science is the first federally approved school of aeronautics. The mission is to actively engage in the fulfillment of Saint Louis University's mission so that students are formed as global citizens who are intellectually, technically and ethically prepared to be responsible leaders in the aviation profession and their community.
